The Creative Curriculum System

At Sprouts Early Learning Center, we support the whole child through meaningful, hands-on experiences. We use The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschool as a research-based framework, while remaining flexible to follow each child’s interests, needs, and developmental pace.

Our approach balances child-led exploration with intentional teacher guidance. Children learn through play, relationships, and real-life experiences in thoughtfully designed classrooms with defined interest areas, including art, literacy, blocks, dramatic play, sensory, and motor development. Materials are intentionally selected and rotated to support engagement and continued growth.

Teachers use ongoing observation and assessment through Creative Curriculum GOLD to support development across all domains:

  • Social-emotional

  • Physical

  • Cognitive

  • Language and literacy

  • Math, science, and social studies

  • The arts

This process allows teachers to individualize learning, set meaningful goals, and adapt experiences to support each child’s growth.

Children have daily opportunities for self-directed play, where they explore, create, and direct their own learning. Teachers act as guides—supporting, extending thinking, and fostering problem-solving and social skills.

We prioritize strong, responsive relationships as the foundation for learning. Through this, children build confidence, independence, and a strong sense of self. Sprouts is committed to an inclusive environment that respects each child’s family, culture, and experiences. Families are valued partners in the learning process.

Assessment & Portfolios

Each child has an ongoing portfolio that documents their growth and development. Portfolios may include observations, photos, and work samples aligned with Creative Curriculum GOLD.

Assessment is continuous and embedded in daily experiences. Teachers use this information to guide planning, support individual needs, and track progress over time. Families are invited to share input and are kept informed through regular communication and conferences.

Family Partnership

Sprouts values strong partnerships with families and maintains an open-door policy. Conferences are offered at least annually and as needed, and families may request additional meetings at any time.
